Wilma Rodrigues

Wilma Rodrigues is the founder and CEO of Saahas Zero Waste (SZW), a social enterprise committed to implementing holistic zero waste solutions across India. This registered MSME, believes that in the 21st century businesses must not just talk but deliver on environmental and social impact. Wilma moved to Bangalore from Mumbai in 1995. She is a former journalist with the Times of India group and BusinessWorld Magazine. India got its first set of Municipal Solid Waste rules in 2000 and this was the trigger for Wilma to step into the waste management sector so as to support implementation of the rules. She first set up NGO Saahas in 2001 and then a business model SZW in 2013. The company today brings together Nature People and Technology so that waste is managed in a manner where up-to 98% of waste is diverted from a landfill and maximum resources is recovered. Waste Management through Resource Recovery results in environmental and social impact. SZW today manages around 100 tonnes of waste per day.
