Dr Vibha Dhawan

Director General, TERI


Dr Vibha Dhawan is the Director General of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), a New Delhi based independent, globally recognised, multi-disciplinary organization with core interest in research, implementation, policy and consultancy. In her almost four-decade long stint at TERI, she was instrumental in establishing the Micropropagation Technology Park and guiding the activities of the DBT-TERI Centre on the Integrated Production of Advanced Biofuels and Biocommodities.

Dr Dhawan is Adjunct Professor, Consul General of South Asia Partnership, Michigan State University, and has served as the Vice-Chancellor of TERI School of Advanced Studies. Her work has received wide-ranging recognition including the Women Achievers Sammaan 2017 from NRI Achievers, the Women Leadership Agriculture Award (2016), and the first All India Biotech Association award.

She is currently a task force member of National Committees with the Department of Biotechnology, the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council, and the Biotech Consortium India. Dr Dhawan is Co-Chair of the T20 Task Force 4 on Refuelling Growth: Clean Energy and Green Transitions, and member, the Networks Strategy Council of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network. The National Centre of Excellence in Green Port & Shipping, in collaboration with Indian Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, was established at TERI campus under her leadership.
