Prabodha Acharya

Chief Sustainability Officer, JSW

Mr. Acharya partners with CEOs, functional heads, senior executives and operations heads to develop and drive sustainability strategy for the JSW Group companies of Steel, Energy, Cement, Paints, Infrastructure etc. An M.Tech in Environmental Engineering, he has worked for more than three decades in the field of corporate environmental management, emissions reduction, climate change, corporate strategy on sustainability and policy development across various sectors and geographies.

Beginning his career with SAIL, he has worked and managed a variety of environmental issues from mining to manufacturing in the metal (iron and steel) sector. Later, he managed the climate change, sustainability and customized Assurance Service for South Asia at Lloyd’s Register, UK and then worked as Sr. Vice President for Aditya Birla Group Sustainability before joining the JSW Group as the CSO. Mr Acharya provides thought leaderships through his capacity as the Chairman of Climate Change and Energy Committee of ISA, Vice Chair of Climate Change and Environment Subcommittee of ASSOHAM, Members of Climate Change and Circular Economy Committee of FICCI, Member of Climate Change and Environmental Committee of CII, Member of Environment Committee of Worldsteel etc. He is a professional lead assessor registered with IRCA, UK and EPD Verifier as per The International EPD System.
