A Chemical Engineer with an MBA degree, Surya Valluri has over 30 years of experience in manufacturing and supply chain in multiple industries across geographies. He has worked in manmade fibre, synthetic fibre, steel, logistics and cement sectors in India, Thailand, and China. Surya has steered many functions: from shopfloor management, project commissioning and business development to P&L, planning and budgeting, and sustainability.

A passionate sustainability professional with a keen interest in the turnaround of businesses and leadership development, Surya has worked in diverse industries where he has made a significant contribution to sustainability. During his tenure as sustainability head at UltraTech Cement, the largest manufacturer of grey cement and ready-mix concrete and one of the largest manufacturers of white cement in India, the company has signed EP-100, conducted biodiversity studies, implemented management plans, and commenced its water positivity journey. Moreover, he conducted a water table study with ICRISAT and launched watershed management projects at two critical plant locations in coordination with NABARD.

Surya has also played a crucial role in GCCA (Global Cement and Concrete Association) formulation and drafting the charter for the association along with global cement industry partners. An enthusiastic sports aficionado, Surya is interested in tennis, badminton and long-distance running – participating in various half marathons across the country.
